Snookie

"I don't like it!" That is Snookie's new and most used phrase. He says it about everything, from going potty, to the pj's you are trying to put on him. And every single time he says it, I crack up... sometimes only on the inside and other times I laugh hysterically out loud because it is just that funny.

Since has been with us he has really gotten talkative... especially in the last month. To be honest, he never shuts up and that is pretty funny. He is always telling somebody something... some can be understood and some not so much. But he is trying and that is the great part. When he first came home to us, he pretty much only said "Mommy" or "Daddy"... and generally it wasn't directed toward us... but to just anybody who would solve his problem. So now for him to call one of in particular, or one of his brothers it is pretty darn cool.

An anniversary thought

Today marks three months from our first outing with the boys. It was a HOT Tuesday in August (duh), and Daddio and I left our house early that morning to head over to their foster home. We got there around 9:00, and there they were standing in the door way and peeking through the window. As we got out of the car we could hear them calling for us, "Mommy, Daddy", and it was so hard to fight back the tears. We had only met them for the first time the previous day, and that meeting only lasted an hour... and they already knew how we were/are.

That extremely hot day we were headed to the zoo. We (Daddio and I) had so much fun, we were holding the boys up to see the different animals, holding their small hands as we walked down the pavement... we were a family at last. And based on the pictures, their smiling faces say that they had as much fun as we did.

Sometimes it hardly seems like it has been three months, and other times it feels like that week of get-to-know-yous was ages ago. In three months we 5 will offically be a family... and I can't wait to see what the next three months hold.

Another Milestone

Today was our monthly visit from our social worker to check on our progress and the progress of the boys. (We are nearing the end of our third month with our boys.) And of course they were full of life and energy! When they are like that, they have such magnetic personalities!!!!! The boys haven't met a stranger it seems, which helps out in a situation like this. They are always meeting new family members, or social workers... and they treat everyone like their new best friend.

On to other things.

Adoptive parenting is different from bio-parenting in so many ways, and yet we are still parents trying to do the best we can for our children. So when bio-parents ask me condescending questions on such things as how much my children cost me, it reminds me of how different our life is versus the majority of families. In this particular blog I will spend my time writing about the wonderful things my boys do, parenting, and struggles of being an adoptive parent...

Meet my three

Through the extraordinary miracle of adoption I have 3 exceptional little boys! And on the advise of a dear friend and my husband, it is about time I put down in words what they have brought to our world!

So I'm pleased to introduce my three amigos to you...

Bobcat is the oldest. Nearly 4, he is wise beyond his years. Everyday he says something that it is just so... thoughtful or thought provoking. He is the first to ask WHY, and while he is trying to learn about the world around him... sometimes it just sends me into laughter with no answer proving to quinch his thirst for such knowledge.

Bubba is our middle son... and middle son is he ever, and a solid 3 years old in every way! Enough said :-)

Snookie, he is my little guy. At two years old he will probably be potty trained, reading, spelling... everything before Andrew.

So these are my boys. I will have to write more later... the amigos are calling for my attention!

The Big Announcement

Next month Andy and I will be parents!

(Shock and Awe sounds bounce off the walls)

At the beginning of this year we sent in our paperwork for adoption. We went to classes, had our home study, and then we waited. A few weeks later we got a phone call from our agency and we couldn't believe it... we were picked! We reviewed the file... medical reports, psychological evaluations, foster parent logs, etc., and everything looked great! So now you're asking yourself... how old, boy or girl, what is their name?

Drum roll please..... ddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

Bobcat (Nov. 2000)
Bubba (Sept. 2001)
Snookie (Aug 2002)

They are 3 healthy, happy, and wonderful boys! Our boys will be coming home to us the first week of August. We will be meeting the foster mom the last week of July and then begin a visitation schedule with them shortly after that.

((((((Applause)))))))) We know that you will love the boys as much as we do, and we would appreciate your prayers! Now Daddio and I must finish painting the bed room, the beds (Daddio built them himself), and all the other odds and ends one must take care of when a new family is being created!

Signing out...
