Once every decade you might want a fireplace!

Good and blistery cold morning to all! It is a mild (ha ha ha) 23.9 degrees here (and dropping so they claim) with a lovely and cozy wind chill of 11 degrees! Sarcastic much... NEVER! Oh and the wind... a little breezy if you will... north winds at 20-30 mph, but hey by afternoon they will settle to around 15-25 mph... something to look forward to! We aren't even supposed to get above freezing till maybe Saturday, but most likely Sunday. Nice!

Here's the funny part... we live in TEXAS! This is not normal, and while I am not an alarmist by nature... everyone else is around here. Oh yes, people were standing in long lines at the grocery stores buying supplies (as per the ridiculous news story: water bottles and canned soup were the big ticket items!). To add to the stupid news stuff... they actually had a list of warnings:

  • layer clothes
  • coats

Right, because we as a society are so completely in dark as to what to do when we walk outside and feel the cold air against our skin... that we NEED TO BE TOLD TO WEAR A COAT! Nice!

Oh, here is the other fun fact for the day... tomorrow we will wake up to a low of somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-13 degrees, with a wind child of -3 or -4! First, that's COLD! Second once you get to zero do we really need to go down to negatives. Why can't we just say, "if you go out in this crap you might die!", I think that might be more effective :-). I mean that is how everyone is acting... might as well come out and say it.

Rain... rain

That's what we've gotten for more than a week now... rain. No, I'm not complaining. It is way better than watering the lawn, and the temp has been much lower... so the air conditioner hasn't been running non-stop. Only down side is that they won't deliver the roofing supplies and put the new roof on till until it stops raining!

What you say?

Um, I just looked at our local online weather thing... temp: 112.1 F, heat index 122 F

Okay, I was just outside, I think it felt more like 115 F.... :-).

That is what we are wearing today... why? Well ... because our high is 85 degrees today!

85 degrees in FEBRUARY! Of course tomorrow's high is only 58 degrees (which is normal for this time of year). Ugghhhhh...

Where is it? *Update*

We were supposed to have a high of 67 degrees today and rain! At the moment (noon) it is 73 degrees, and NOT RAINING. Where is the cold weather??? Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Okay, you maybe asking yourself, "why is the Llama so angry about such little matters?"

Well my friends, I'm making GUMBO today... for the first real cold snap of the year... and IT BETTER BE COLD OUTSIDE (or who knows what this little ragin' cajun might do)!!! That is all part of wanting it TODAY, because it was going to be, well not cold but way very much cooler!

*UPDATE*
Well, by 1:00 the temp dropped down to 61 degrees... and now at 3:00 we are at 55 degrees... PERFECT for gumbo!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

would you be mine, won't you be mine...

It's 9:15 am and the temperature is 73 degrees!!!! Oh and the wind is blowing!!! Needless to say my windows are open, and I'm enjoying the remnants of Gustav that reached our area.

With this kind of weather, I might just break out all my fall stuff... oh, but if you check the forecast the rest of the week we are back in the 90's... so the apples and pumpkins will just have to wait another few weeks!

Wintery Mix

Or so they call it... we had really great snow fall earlier, flakes as big as quarters! Now it is raining, with some snow mixed in. Mostly things seem mushy!

No Daddio

In the wee hours of the night all flights were in deed canceled (well delayed till the am), and when Daddio arrived back in this state he had a stack of work and meetings at the office. :-(.

Other than that all is back to normal around here. Things are drying off, the boys are back in normal form, and life continues.

Ter-nader

Well, we weathered a pretty rough patch here... I actually got the boys out of bed at 9:00 and had them huddled under one of their mattresses in my closet. They thought it was a fun game, thankfully with help from Mother Mary and my guardian angel, I was able to maintain a fun exterior as we waited... listening to the TV weather when it was on (satellite during bad weather not always the best source of information). I was able to talk with Daddio via cell phone once with the boys, and maintained contact with email (he is still in the airport in Arkansas, where all of our storms ended up going), which helped.

Now the boys are back in bed, I'm relaxing, and Daddio will hopefully be home sometime in the middle of the night.

Did I mention that at the height of it the radar/meterologist showed 4 different rotations... eek gads...

Stupid Rain *updated*

Because of the crummy weather, Daddio's flight home today has been CANCELED... I'm so mad I could just spit nails.

I do believe I will be throwing myself a little pitty party this evening. :-(

Enough whining for me... must figure something out for dinner.... without Daddio... I was totally counting on having a late and tasty meal with him...

Seriously no more whining, must attend to children.

*Update: The ticket/airport people... or whom ever, found a flight for Daddio for tonight! YIPPEEEEE!!!!If you could see me... you would see an all out happy dance!

Rain... rain... more rain

That is our day... lots and lots of rain.

Our yard is flooded, so are the streets, so we've stayed inside only venturing out on to the front covered patio to watch the storms.

Thankfully Daddio has done a great job with the boys helping them get over their fear of storms (too bad it hasn't worked that well on me), so we are able to go out and watch it without crying.

This is the day the Lord has made!!!

And let us rejoice.

The sun is shining, there is a gentle breeze blowing, and all seems right with the world... well that is if you are standing in the soft green grass in my front yard and gazing at the loveliness of the flowers growing.

It is a pleasant 72 degrees in the house, and there is the smell of freshness wafting through as the wind floats in from the open windows. The gauzy curtains are dancing in the sun, and the Easter Lily continues to bloom inside as the sun kisses its delicate petals!

Oh, the sweet perfumes of Spring.

Did I mention that Daddio is returning home in a few hours from a trip... that also might have something to do with bounce in my step :-).

Come on Fall, we need you...

The tent is taunting me. DH bought a new tent for his birthday... and every time I go out in the garage it taunts me. Take me to the Ozarks, take me to the hills, open me among the leaves, fill my rooms with sleeping bags... GO CAMPING, PLEASE! ANd I say to you Mr. Tent... I'm trying. I'm trying to find that perfect weekend that the weather will be wonderful. I'm trying to find that weekend that doesn't already have us scheduled to be here, there, and everywhere. And Mr. Tent... I think this will be our weekend! Now if the weather will just hold out... NO SHOWERS! If the temp will stay nice and in the 80's... AHHHHH, I think this is our weekend!

Oh my freakin' gosh...

80 wonderful degrees!!! That's right people... almost all the days of August here have been over 100... and today, oh glorious day, it is in the 80's!!!!

So we dawned our shoes, and went to the park for a morning of fun! We made an executive decision to post-pone homeschool till after naptime so that we can take advantage of this wonderful weather.

The the forecast for the weekend... 80's!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
