So it was pointed out to me by my dearest friend that I sort of left the last Bean post a little open ended...
Well, he's back with us (hence the no posting), and has been for a little more than a week. He's doing quite well, NOW! He came back from his stay with the paternal grandmother sick and hoarse... but after a few days of being with us he was practically as good as new. He's now weighing in at a whopping 11 lbs 15 oz! Woohoo little guy!!! And his head has gotten quite large... I only mention this because it was pretty important to his pedi to see a substantial change in that department. Bean is laughing and smiling these days, and being all together charming... as I'm sure Matilda can attest to after this past weekend (he attended a local homeschool conference with Daddio and I... and received a special blessing from none other than Fr. Thomas J. Euteneuer).
Well it would appear that naptime for the little Bean has come to a conclusion... so I must sign off and attend to the little guy!
Oh, and I do have a few homeschooling posts planned... so stay tuned (and maybe a few new pics of the Bean as well).

Animals I tell you...
A few weeks ago we started playing a game in the car that we call the animal game. It is much like 20 questions... someone starts by giving one or two clues about an animal they are thinking of and everyone starts calling out animals, the person who guesses right gets the next turn... simple, right?!
So we are in the car yesterday and it was Snookie's turn to think of an animal. First off, one of Snookie's problems in playing such a game is that at times he will change his mind about what animal mid turn, or someone will guess it and then he changes the animal... little cheat! Anyway, here is how one of his turns went:
Snookie: I'm thinking of an animal that is brown, small and is a daddy with antlers.
Bobcat: Deer!
Snookie: Nooooooooooooooooooooo!
Bubba: Moose
Snookie: YES
WHAT
Bubba: A moose is not small.
Snookie: Oh you're right, I meant to say large.
I'm not sure what to make of this little exchange. I'm left wondering if Bubba can read Snookie's mind (oh the places I could go with that comment), he didn't want Bobcat to win that round, or Snookie suddenly thought that moose was a much better answer than what he was thinking of.
Seriously, people this is what I listen to day in and day out.

What you say?
Um, I just looked at our local online weather thing... temp: 112.1 F, heat index 122 F
Okay, I was just outside, I think it felt more like 115 F.... :-).

Vacation... (updated)
Ode to the beach... This year we were able to stay an amazing 8 days 7 nights! OH HOW AWESOME THAT WAS... I'm not sure we will be able to do anything shorter than this from now on... you really need that much time to just unwind! Another bonus of this trip included two other families who came down to the island the day after we arrived. They stayed a few doors down, and so we were able to hook up with them from time to time and all the kids could play... 11 kids!
First up, the beach house... oh what a lovely beach house it was (except for the ants in the kitchen, but it was the beach so I can look past that).
I loved this particular shot because it is pretty much what we saw every time we were down on the beach... Bobcat in the water and all you can see of him are two of three things, head, trunks or his feet. Next year we're getting that kid snookle gear!

It's been a few years since our last dolphin cruise... we thought it was high time to go again, especially since the two other families that came had never been on one. Oh, and there were a few new moms out with their calves. SO CUTE!

I'm currently uploading our pictures to our online site. Once I get them all updated I will post a link for those who are interested in seeing more of our trip! Click here if you have some time on your hands and like looking at other people on vacation :-).
Backtracking...
On July 3 Daddio graced us with his awesome photography skills. For those wondering, yes it was stinkin' hot... that's why we met up at the garden at 8:00am hoping to not completely melt before any images were captured!
This first shot shows my family... my parents, Bean, Monkey (16 month old nephew), and Bee (7 year old neice). Except for Monkey looking elsewhere, it came out great!
All in all we got several really great shots of the group, of different smaller groupings, and even some amazing individuals of the kiddos.

Bad blogger...
I know, I know... there hasn't been anything posted in more than a week! That's because with Bean here, it is difficult to type with one hand... not to mention it takes too long and by the time I get two words down I can't for the life of me remember what I was trying to convey!
Well, Bean is gone for the time being. I dropped him off yesterday, and we won't see him again until next weekend. This will be the longest separation we've had from him since we returned from vacation (and yes Meghan, I know we haven't even posted about that... don't worry I'll work on it). He truly has become a little Llama Bean, I am only slightly joking when I say that I'm going through the seven stages of grief at the moment... and desperately wanted to call last night and ask how he was doing!
This shot was taken last Friday (July 3) after a morning photo shoot with the family at a local garden. Usually I don't like pictures that contain me... but when you put a Bean in the frame all shots become lovable.
Gotta run now... but I'll be back with more!

What time is it?
Me: Bobcat, what time is it?
Bobcat: Ummm... 400?
Me (irritated): 400 is not a time. Really now, it hasn't been that long since we taught you to read a clock. Maybe we need to do some more practice instead of taking off the whole summer...
MommaLlama (from the other room): If he's looking at the oven, it's pre-heating.
Me: Oh. Sorry, son. That does say 400, but it's the temperature. Go look at a different clock.
Bobcat: Ummm... seventy-one five?
Me: (silence... blank stare... calmly now...) Try again.
Bobcat: 7:15?
Me: Thank you.

The boy will be getting a watch - ANALOG, not digital! - for his birthday this year.
