I'm weird, and I'm fully aware of this fact!

This could be revealing just a little too much about my obsession with the Mavs... after a great game last night (even without Dirk and his elbow injury)... I had a really cool dream where I got to meet all my favorite guys and hang out with them.

Sad, I know...

Fast vs. Slow

Last night we were able to sit back and enjoy two sports games. We had previously recorded the Mavs v. Raptors, and the Cowboys were playing... so to build up some time on the DVR during the Cowboys game (because we hate watching commercials now), we watched the Mavs.

For me personally, I enjoy basketball more... why? It's faster. Things can be corrected quickly (usually), and there is always something happening. Not to mention that you are both offense and defense... there aren't two groups within the one team. I think that is COOL!

This difference was greatly exaggerated last night, watching the two games back to back... what I can say is... hey, at least both of our teams won... no matter how fast or slow it seemed!

Jumpin' Jelly Beans

"Jid you see dat!" as Snooker would say... the Mavs game last night. SERIOUSLY... we shot an abysmal 33% until the last 8 minutes of the 4th... all of a sudden Dirk took matters into his own hands. Then it was all hands on deck... OH MY GOSH!!!! What a game... if my foot were acting right I would have been jumpin' all over bed going bananas.

The good, the bad, and the ugly

The good: Go Mavs! And hooray for Bob back on TV and Brad demoted to radio!

The bad: Cowboys... At least we have a bye next weekend.

The ugly: At least we know they weren't performance-enhancing drugs...
(Some of you know what I'm talking about.)

Jason Kidd

Well, I was not a fan of the Harris for Kidd trade, and still believe that we needed depth at center more than this. What will be do in the playoffs against Shaq, Marion, Duncan, Bynum, or Yao when Dampier gets in early foul trouble? And to hear Dirk talking about his relief at having some "leadership" on the floor... Ummm, hello, you're the league MVP, for goodness sake, you should be the leader. But hey, if it makes him relax and play better, it's a good thing.

And I have to admit that it sure is fun to watch them lately, isn't it!? Not only does Kidd bring a lot himself, he seems to have energized the whole team, and they're playing more adventurously even when he's not on the floor. Good stuff. We'll see how far it takes us.

I'm also relieved that George's maneuver resulted in a much more fair deal, in my opinion. Hassel was a good player, but I'm happy to have Stackhouse and George still here, if only because they are two of MommaLlama's favorite guys. (Stackhouse bought his mommy a CHURCH!) She desperately wants to win the "Take Stack to School" contest. Wouldn't it be awesome if he came to a homeschool group event? I can imagine that on Channel 5 - "NBA player participates in Stations of the Cross with local religious fanatics."

Mid-Season Trades

If there is anyone out there who keeps up with basketball... especially if you follow the Mavs or the Nets, will know that there is a deal a brewin'.

I'm NOT HAPPY... why? Well, because I don't agree with mid-season trades. It isn't fair to take players from a good team and send them to a crappy team, and for one good player to get traded from a crappy team to a good team so near playoffs... You should finish the season with the people who started the season!

The Mavs currently have the best bench (in my opinion). We usually don't worry about injury all the much because we have such a high producing bench... but in this trade we are losing nearly all our bench for two players, one of which is nearing retirement... and hasn't gotten his current team to a ring.

This is one Mavs fan that is not happy... I support GEORGE! You stick to this team, baby!!!!

For Bob...

BOO-YAH!

Complaining that you didn't have Carmelo doesn't help. It's called a "deep bench", y'all should really look into it next year. ;-)

Although I do give props to the little guy that was raining down three-pointers. It was a valliant effort. Fortunately, the best team won!

Um, seriously...

Wow, this weekend was an interesting weekend in sports... at least in the Llama household.

The hero of the weekend: Jerry Stackhouse! Why... his 3 point buzzer beater to win the game by 1 point. Now I won't lie, had they lost by two points it would have been totally deserved. They played miserably against a terrible team. Him winning the game is the only reason why the TV in our room is still in one piece and working!

The upset: THE COWBOYS, 'nough said!

Bring Back Bob

I would like to find (or start) a list to get Bob Ortegel back on TV announcing for the Mavs with Mark... Brad Davis is terrible!

Sports...

It's been quiet here on the Llama blog in regards to sports... why - because the Mavs were on a 3 game LOSING streak and I was just too devastated to write about it (and exhausted from staying up so late to watch that silliness).

Bad defense... bad shooting... bad bad bad...

They were able to eek out a victory against the T-wolves Wednesday night (only after giving up a 20 point lead, ouch)... so losing streak over, right MAVS????

Tonight, we (as if I am on the court helping) play the Portland Trailblazers... um that wasn't so pretty the last time we met up with them, but we were down Devin Harris. So maybe, just maybe with him back on the court for this match up (and I hear another new starting line-up... what would this be 9 in 16 games?) we will have a better outcome!

I will say... I cracked up when The General got thrown out of the game a few nights ago! Classic!!!!!

Wow...

I just finished watching the Mav-Warriors match up (thank you DVR), but what a beating... no, not the game, but the TNT commentators. Note to self: MUTE (located at top of remote)... watch game in PEACE!

Final thoughts: GO MAVS! And the refs sucked!

Mavs - Cavs Season opener

I know, I know... I'm so behind on the times posting about the season opener for the Mavs... but what a game. At least the second half was (which is all I happened to catch, because I'm such a bad fan that I totally didn't know that it was the opener and just assumed it was another preseason game and I still had another week to get in B-Ball mindset).

Thoughts on the whole:

I'm sorry to hear that Mbenga is gone. Due to an injury last season which lead to surgery we didn't see much of him, but what we saw looked promising. With three years here, he racked up some where in the 75 games range on the floor... which really isn't enough to know for sure what he's got (or so they say). He's headed off to Europe to get some floor time which will be good for him! And I'm not sure what happened to Crosiere (sp?), but he was a good guy as well, and I'm sad to see him go.

Josh Howard didn't play in the opener and is out the next game as well, due to a two game suspension for a fight in a preseason game. Now, I saw the clip and it is pretty funny... I had to watch that clip 4-5 times because I was laughing so hard. If you haven't seen it, it is worth checking out... and who ever came up with J. Ho. as his nickname... people, come on, something better - PLEASE!

Dampier is out till December because of shoulder surgery, and George is out with a knee injury from preseason (um, did anyone see him sporting the mohawk... and WHY?).

Jason Terry (The Jet)... he's so cute (and you know all 4 of his kids are cute)! Apparently he's everyone's favorite Sixth Man... we'll see how long they have him coming off the bench, he played great in the opener! And we all know that Coach A changes up his line-up regularly!

Stackhouse lookin' good as well... what a pretty jumper! (I like to make up my own nicknames for some of my favorites - I call him StickyStack)

Dirk looked way more aggressive in the paint! Which is a good thing... no gentle giants! And Diop was handling himself quite nicely with what 4-5 blocks and I think a total of 3 fouls... tough to do when you're a center. It will be interesting to watch this slot (the 5 spot/center) as the season progresses, especially when Damp is back in playing form.

Devin Harris, starting Point Guard for your Dallas Mavericks... you go little buddy! He cracks me up, and is one young player that is going to be fun to follow. He can draw a charge with the best 'em, and is quick on his feet... and isn't afraid of the bigger players (did you seem him guarding Kobe last year... hysterical).

Bass & Hassell, both new guys... looked pretty good, it will take a while getting used to seeing them out there.

Because I came in late to the game, I missed JJ B. (Jose Barea), but I hear he did well (oh, his nickname... Little Chili Pepper :-). And I have no idea of Mo Ager played... but both of this guys are definitely young athletes that will be interesting to watch as thier careers progress.

So there you have it people... my first Mavs post for this season... more to come!

Nice... NOT

Apparently the Mavs decided to phone it in last night... by sitting Dirk, Stackhouse, Howard and the still sore Dampier for the game.

The first 5 minutes were great, but Nellie and the Warriors were too much for the bench and rookies. I felt bad for Harris, Terry, Buck and George though... but for Buck and George this was a good opportunity for some seriously fierce play coming back fom injuries, and for Avery to watch the rookies and see who will be sticking around next season. Personally for the first years, I'm pulling for JJ B... or Chili Pepper as I like to call him. He's got some serious skills, and I think could really benefit from the 'old timers' on the Mavs.

Highlight of the game... double T's on Buckner and Davis... Buck would have totally taken Davis down in a bar fight :-). Buck definitely looks like he is in better form since the knee and nose injuries, he's got his swagger back. Oh and Pops with that sweet dunk and swing was pretty cool as well!

So, tonight is the real dress rehearsal for playoffs... with the Seattle Sonics.

Did I mention that we freakin' stay up till midnight watching last nights game... ugggghhhhh

Big Game

Road Trip

We are headin' out on the road with DH for a short trip. Thank goodness, we could all use a break from everything (except for DH who will be working of course). So hotels, no cooking for me, and swimming here we come.

In other news... YAY MAV's . That was a fun win, and nice to George back out on the court with his 7 points! Looks like the groove is comin' back.

And one last thing... How does your garden grow... mine grows with tulips, irises, amd lots of color. Here is just a sampling of things happening...

Mavs win again!

Yay, go Mavs! Nice win, I would've enjoyed a larger spread in points, but they got the job done! Now what was that last shot Dirk took... what in the world happened with that.

Props to Harris and Damp (even with his large number or fouls)!!! Seriously guys your stepped up your game and it showed!

Double Overtime...

We lost :-(... in double overtime. We meet up with the Suns again on April 1... here's hoping we come out on top.

I can't believe what happened

Okay, so it has been Mavs Mania here at MyThreeSons... but alas my dear Mavs had a terrible upset last night. Honestly, I can't believe I had to stay up till midnight for such horrible massacre.

Not that I'm all that surprised based on the lousy day we had... poor concentration at homeschool, a phone call from CPS (not about my kids, but another situation that we're consultants on), and then the Mavs.

Hopefully tonight the Mavs will rally up and defeat the Suns. And hopefully the refs won't have their heads in their unmentionables and call a fair game!
